Manager, Finance-Plant Controller - Mogadore, Ohio
Newell Brands, a leading consumer products company, is seeking a Manager, Finance-Plant Controller for its Mogadore location. The role reports to the corporate finance team and supports the plant’s accounting‑related processes including budgeting, costing, capital spending, and cost savings.
Key Responsibilities
Work with site operations leadership to explain and interpret key drivers of monthly performance.
Act as the primary liaison for plant site financial functions, needs, and policies.
Lead development of the site’s annual manufacturing and distribution budgets, with monthly forecast updates.
Focus on costing and inventory activities and provide informative analyses for division & local management.
Consolidate, track, and report CAPEX forecasts for cash flow reporting.
Forecast direct cost variances, cost reduction programs, wage rate variance and non‑standard variances.
Lead the month‑end close process and ensure all requirements are met to reflect the financial status of the plant.
Analyze significant operating variances monthly for Direct Labor, Variable Manufacturing Expense, Scrap & Material Usage.
Conduct ad‑hoc financial analysis projects and report preparation (frequent).
Supervise site finance staff.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting; CPA or CMA preferred.
Minimum 5+ years of experience in cost accounting.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with SAP/Hyperion is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Self‑starter able to handle many tasks simultaneously and prioritize responsibilities.
Ability to work well in a fast‑paced environment dealing with many departments.
Attention to detail, thoroughness, accuracy and overall quality of work.
Thorough understanding of financial statements and relationships between income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statements.
