Position Details Position: Graduate Assistant - Men's Lacrosse

Department: Athletics

Reports to: Head Coach - Men's Lacrosse

Classification: Part-Time, Non-Benefit Eligible, 2-year maximum duration

Location: Lisle Campus

Rate: $7,200.00; stipend amount is pro-rated based on start date

Position Summary This position is responsible for assisting the soccer program with the recruitment and retention of student-athletes while working to ensure the best student experience possible for the members of the Benedictine University Lacrosse Program.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Assist the lacrosse program with the identification and successful recruitment of qualified student-athletes to help place the program in a position of competitive leadership in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

Coaching and mentoring student-athletes, as well as assisting with film breakdown, developing and implementing scouting reports, game and practice plans, and coaching in all traditional and non-traditional segments that will place the program in a position of competitive leadership in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

Assist with the retention of student-athletes, including social and academic support; meet regularly with the members of the assigned position group to monitor academic progress and ensure players are investing the time and effort required to be successful in the classroom.

Provide instruction in technique and safety procedures in adherence with NCAA regulations and sports performance expectations during the playing and practice seasons.

Other Functions

Develop relationships within Benedictine University and the University community.

Attend departmental and University related meetings and events.

Maintain a positive student-athlete assessment for the program from student-athletes.

Work in coordination with University offices and departments to coordinate and facilitate University events.

Maintain positive relationships with alumni, parents, students, officials, volunteers and fans.

Serve on University, conference and national committees as needed.

Positively promote Benedictine University and the Department of Athletics on campus and in the community.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree Required. Must be enrolled as a Benedictine student in good standing.

Experience: Experience within a collegiate athletic environment preferred; NCAA Division III level desired.

Qualifications: Applicant must obtain acceptance into a Benedictine Graduate program (MBA, MS in Business Analytics, MS in Management & Organizational Behavior, or MPH). Applicant must be accepted into the Benedictine University Graduate Program and remain in good standing.

Specific Skills: Organizational skills, writing and typing skills, interpersonal skills, data entry and budget management skills, and demonstrated supervisory skills.

Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications: Valid driver's license; CPR/First Aid/AED certification required within the first 90 days of employment.

Physical Requirements: May lift up to 50 lbs; ability to reach, bend, stoop; sit, stand or walk for long periods; ability to handle varying levels of stress while maintaining professionalism; travel districtwide/statewide as needed; outdoor exposure to sun/heat or cold weather.

Supervisory Responsibility: No

Working Conditions: Office environment; nights and weekends required.

Training: Must complete all trainings required by Benedictine University.
