The accounts payable specialist will be responsible for assisting the accounts payable process, completing payments, and controlling expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices. This position reports to the Executive Director, Accounting and External Reporting. Responsibilities

Assist with the processing of vendor invoices from receipt to approval in the company’s automated AP processing application and/or alternative manual process, including three-way-matching, resolving inaccuracies in account coding, following up with approvers, etc. Ensure timely payment of vendor invoices by assisting with the weekly payment process. Reconcile vendor statements to ensure completeness, existence and accuracy of the company’s accounts payable. Assist with the review of open purchase orders to determine the company’s open commitments and to ensure completeness of accruals. Maintain complete vendor records, including W-9 forms, and assist with the preparation of the annual Form 1099 reporting. Interact directly with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure reflection of Ocular values. Process employee expense reports. Identify when tax exemption is applicable to the company and maintain up-to-date tax exemption forms. Assign prepaids with the appropriate amortization schedule in the accounting system. Provide support and guidance to the independent public accountants in connection with the SOX and year-end audits as it relates to accounts payable. Support the Finance team in completing ad hoc projects as necessary and participate in daily finance discussions and monthly close meetings. Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree (or comparable experience) in accounting or business is preferred. 5+ years of progressive AP experience, preferably in the biotech industry. QAD and Nimbello knowledge a plus. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Must be a self-starter and take initiative. Ability to adapt rapidly to changing priorities – flexibility, teamwork, collaborative work style and a positive attitude. Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Demonstrated abilities in analytical, quantitative, and critical thinking. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines. Ability to interact appropriately with all levels of employees.
