Overview
Zurich is seeking an experienced Senior Energy Oil, Gas & Power Gen Underwriter to join our National Accounts team in Zurich’s New York or Houston office. The role will be based in New York or Houston with a hybrid work arrangement and a requirement to be visible in the marketplace, meeting with agents and brokers in the office/market three days per week. The level (Senior Energy Oil, Gas & Power Gen Underwriter - Level III) or AVP, Energy Oil, Gas & Power Gen Underwriter (Level IV) will be determined based on the selected applicant’s experience and skill set. Responsibilities
Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating annual rules. Develop, maintain, and collaborate with Line of Business representatives on referrals and other business-related needs as appropriate. May provide guidance to lower level associates. Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) to support business retention and acquisition; work with customers and distributors to determine insurance needs and provide solutions. Support the sales culture by being a Help Point for agents, brokers, and customers. Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities. Complete detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities. Qualify accounts to meet the organization’s appetite while balancing sound business opportunities. Make broker/customer and on-site calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose. Basic Qualifications
Senior Level III (choose one): High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5+ years of experience in underwriting or market-facing area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3+ years of experience in underwriting or market-facing area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support; and Knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience working under time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business; experience working in a team environment. AVP Level IV (choose one): High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7+ years of experience in underwriting or market-facing area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 5+ years of experience in underwriting or market-facing area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 12+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support; and Experience with Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications (Both Levels)
Bachelor’s Degree Technical knowledge of Energy Oil, Gas & Power Gen underwriting Established broker relationships (retail brokers) within the New York region Sales execution mindset Creative problem solving skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Additional Details

The salary range is a nationwide market range and is not adjusted for geographic differentials. The combined salary range for this position is $122,900.00 - $266,300.00. The proposed salary range for the Senior level is $122,900.00 - $201,300.00 (with 15% short-term incentive eligibility). The proposed salary range for the AVP Level is $162,500.00 - $266,300.00 (with 20% short-term incentive eligibility). Equal Opportunity
