Provide budget monitoring, support and compliance for federal, state, private and local grants as well as all restricted accounts.

Essential Functions
Monitor budgets for federal, state, private, and local grants. Invoice grantors on a monthly basis. Review, adjust and balance restricted accounts and submit monthly allotments based on funds received. Review, adjust and balance the grant holding account ensuring all payments are properly applied. Monitor accounts receivable aging for all projects. Work with Principal Investigators and Grant Analysts to manage the closeout process for all grants and contracts. Review projects during close-out for proper indirect cost calculations, residual funds, compliance with agency close-out requirements and reporting. Ensure documents are scanned and held for required record retention period. Approve grant and restricted account expenditures processed via the University procurement system. Approve travel for grants and restricted accounts. Prepare invoices for two Center of Excellence. Complete reconciliation and follow up on collection for three Centers of Excellence. Assist with year-end closing and audit process.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in accounting or related field with an emphasis in accounting. One year of experience in the accounting/financial field. Ability to analyze and interpret contracts and financial statements. Experience interpreting, analyzing and monitoring budgets. Overall grasp of the University mission and how the grant accounting function plays a role in that mission. Knowledge, familiarity and comfort with accounting software. Ability to interpret financial reports as they relate to budgets, expenditure accounts and revenue accounts. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Competency in software such as Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of federal and state laws, as well as governmental accounting standards. Experience in governmental fund accounting. Working knowledge of grants and/or contracts. Experience with higher education financial software such as Oracle.
Work Hours
Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Compensation And Benefits
Salary Commensurate with education and experience. Pay grade 10. Benefits Information
Tennessee Tech offers a competitive benefits package. Benefits include the accumulation of two vacation days per month and one sick leave day per month, and thirteen University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits.
