Requirements
Six months of experience in business, appraisal, or property‑related environments
High school diploma or GED
Post‑secondary education may substitute for required experience on a year‑for‑year basis
Valid Arizona driver’s license by the time of hire
Mileage is reimbursed at the federal rate
Must take a class and pass a test on “Introduction to Property Tax” within 30 days of hire
Must take a class and pass a test in “Data Collection” within three months of hire
Preferred
Experience performing discovery, measurement, verification, or other technical functions related to property appraisal and assessment
Experience with computer‑assisted sketching/drawing programs
Experience with spreadsheets and other computer software programs
Job Contributions
Captures property data in a timely and accurate manner by conducting field visits to properties, measuring properties, noting property descriptions, counts, and relevant property characteristics
Canvass for new properties, improvements, special features, changes, or additions to value by traveling to assigned areas or using the desktop review process and aerial photography
Gathers information about existing properties and properties under construction from various property representatives
Documents property notes, measurements, field inspection dates, and other information accurately by hard copy or electronically in the system
Creates and updates scaled property drawings based on field measurements, blueprints, plans, or CAD files including property details to accurately represent properties
Ensures accuracy of data in Assessor’s records by performing basic mathematical calculations including determination of square footage, fractions, or decimals using standard formulas
Contributes to the accuracy and currency of Assessor data by taking photographs and drawing sketches of properties and entering these into Assessor’s electronic records
Manages time in the field without direct supervision and organizes work for best production, accuracy, and timely completion, which includes maintaining the daily itinerary and mileage log
Working Conditions
This position has the opportunity for a hybrid schedule with field visits and telecommuting
Field work can include exposure to extreme heat, cold and dangerous flora, fauna
