Job Summary/Basic Function The Department of Accounting in the Jennings A. Jones College of Business at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a professor of practice faculty position (non-tenurable) at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2026.
As part of a nationally recognized AACSB-accredited college, we prepare students for success in a rapidly changing business environment through innovative teaching, professional engagement, and strong industry partnerships. The successful candidate will be creative, supportive, and adaptable to the ever-changing market. The professor of practice will participate in academic programs by providing professional services, exposing students to their professional expertise, and directing students’ educational experiences in professional settings. We seek an experienced accounting professional who will contribute to the department’s mission by delivering high-quality instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate (M.Acc.) levels, as well as engaging in professional and service activities. Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, practice-based instruction in undergraduate and graduate accounting courses.
Develop and update curriculum and coursework to ensure alignment with industry standards and emerging trends.
Foster strong relationships with industry partners to support internships and student engagement.
Engage in professional, community, or practitioner-oriented activities that enhance the visibility and impact of the department and college.
Participate in department, college, and university service activities.
Required Education A master's or terminal degree in accounting or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate hours in accounting is required by the appointment date.
Required Related Experience Ten (10) years of professional accounting experience is required.
Other Desirables Applicants with the following will receive special consideration:
CPA, CIA, CMA, CISA, CISP, CFE, or other accounting-related credentials.
High-quality teaching experience.
