Tax Supervisor A growing CPA firm in Wakefield, MA is hiring a
Tax Supervisor
to lead client engagements and guide team members in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment. This role offers a competitive salary of up to $120,000 plus bonus and is ideal for tax professionals with 5+ years of public accounting experience and a strong foundation in tax compliance and planning. Candidates should be motivated to take on leadership responsibilities, manage client relationships, and contribute to the development of the firm’s tax practice. Clients include large public companies and privately held businesses across various industries.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise tax engagements in compliance with firm and professional standards Plan and schedule engagements in coordination with clients and internal teams Review complex tax returns and associated work papers for accuracy and completeness Provide training, supervision, and mentoring to junior staff and associates Conduct technical tax research and communicate findings internally and with clients Maintain strong relationships with clients, identifying opportunities for value-added services Stay current on tax regulations relevant to your areas of specialization
Required Experience
5+ years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on tax Demonstrated success managing tax engagements and leading teams Experience reviewing complex business and individual tax returns
Nice-to-Have Experience
Supervisory experience with multi-client engagements Prior experience working with clients in diverse industries (e.g., closely held businesses, corporations)
Required Skills
Proficiency in reviewing tax returns and managing tax workflows Strong interpersonal and client communication skills Detail-oriented with proven project management ability
Preferred Skills
CPA license or active CPA candidate Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (BSBA) Experience with QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, ProSystem fx Tax, and CCH Axcess Tax Familiarity with tax issues relevant to industry specialization Strong research and analytical skills related to tax planning and compliance
