Cost Accountant
to join their dynamic team in the Rochester, NH area. This role is critical in leading accounting processes, developing and monitoring plant costs, maintaining SKU-level standards, and providing operational and financial insights to support plant and business unit performance. You'll leverage your expertise in ERP systems, cost accounting, and financial reporting to drive process improvements, analyze variances, and support strategic decision-making. What You'll Need To Succeed Bachelor’s degree in: Accounting, Finance or related field 3-5 years cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment Experience in a Standard Cost Accounting environment a benefit High level of proficiency in Microsoft skills including spreadsheets and ERP/MRP systems. Experience in SQL a benefit. What Experience You Should Bring Knowledge of: Manufacturing and cost accounting principles, especially in short and medium production environments. Procurement processes, production workflows, and inventory management systems. Working with both blanket orders and spot purchasing. Proficiency in: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Advanced data analysis tools and methods to interpret operational performance metrics. Preparing journal entries and reconciling inventory adjustments. Skills and Abilities: Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to communicate effectively with both plant personnel and executive teams. Adept at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Capable of working independently and collaboratively across teams. Projects You'll Work On
Develop and maintain standard costs, bill of materials, and routings within the ERP system to ensure accurate reporting. Monitor inventory levels. Conduct variance analyses and root-cause investigations related to materials, labor, and production costs. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, including operating budgets and capital expenditures, and assess return on investment (ROI) for projects. Provide financial insights to support pricing strategies for new products and engineering changes. Collaborate with production teams to track and report progress on continuous improvement projects and cost-saving initiatives. Generate regular reports, including weekly labor reports, material usage summaries, and monthly KPI statistics to monitor operational efficiency. Evaluate capacity utilization, performance metrics, and production line efficiencies to optimize operations. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Integrate your analysis of variances with company’s scheduling system to identify potential issues. Partner with Operations Management to provide feedback and analysis Prepare budgeting and financial forecasting of costs and standards setting including sales support, headcount & operational expense development, and overhead creation & changes. Support inventory procedures and accuracy including reconciliation of the inventory, investigation of variances and reviewing cycle count data to maintain the accuracy of the physical inventory. Collect, validate, and analyze data to determine labor and applications rates and support ongoing headcount and cost savings tracking and planning. Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods to evaluate the impact on product costs and margins Review Engineering Masters (Bill of Materials) for changes in costs and material content. Supporting remote design engineers by generating Engineering Masters for new SKU’s. Perform special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed Actively uses company problem solving (DMAIC) to correct errors in work outputs. Serves as guide and back up to Staff Accountant, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable as necessary. Perform other duties as assigned This is a hybrid role, allowing for both in-office and remote work arrangements. We estimate this position will spend up to 25% of their time on the factory floor.
