Job Summary As an Estimator at Hill & Wilkinson, you will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase of large commercial projects, valued between $10 million and $100 million. Your primary responsibilities include analyzing project plans and specifications, preparing accurate cost estimates, and developing comprehensive bid proposals. Key Responsibilities Cost Estimation: The primary responsibility is to accurately calculate the total cost of a construction project by analyzing factors like materials, labor, equipment, and time required. Document Review: Thoroughly reviewing project plans, blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to understand the project scope. Quantity Takeoff: Calculating the quantities of materials needed for a project based on the drawings. Labor Cost Analysis: Assessing the labor requirements and associated costs for different construction tasks. Subcontractor Quotes: Gathering cost estimates from subcontractors for specialized work. Risk Assessment: Identifying potential risks and contingencies that could impact project costs. Bid Development: Preparing competitive bids for construction projects, including cost breakdowns and project timelines. Client Communication: Presenting cost estimates to clients, addressing questions, and negotiating contract terms. Project Qualification: Evaluating whether a project aligns with the company's capabilities and strategic goals before bidding. Software Proficiency: Utilizing construction estimating software to generate accurate cost calculations and reports. Job Qualifications Must have recent experience as a Commercial Construction Estimator. College degree preferred in a related field (construction/engineering) or experience in a construction-related field. Honest, dependable, responsible, and attentive. Aligned with H&W Values and Ways. Willing to work with a team. Able to read Civil, Architectural, Structural, and MEP drawings and specifications. Familiar with Microsoft Office; extended knowledge of Excel a plus.
