Overview
Manager - Payment Reconciliation at BILL. This role owns complex reconciliations for BILL payment products, including new products being launched. You will ensure financial accuracy through reconciliation execution, process automation, and support for implementation/testing. You’ll collaborate with Finance, Product, and Engineering to improve reconciliation workflows, resolve discrepancies, and support launches of new payment products. BILL serves over 400K businesses and processes over $75B (30 million transactions) in quarterly payment volume. The role is a key driver in implementing new systems and processes, driving automation and efficiency across the reconciliation and ledgering lifecycle. Responsibilities
Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to define reconciliation requirements for new payment flows and system enhancements Monitor and reconcile incoming and outgoing payment transactions data within BILL’s internal database to ensure proper recording of funds held by customers and payments on credit products Research exception items thoroughly and drive them to resolution in collaboration with bank reps, Payment Operations, Finance, Product and Development teams Assist with audits and reporting needs across the company and ensure internal controls are SOX-compliant Prepare audit schedules, compliance reports, and ad hoc reports as needed Perform regular closing activities such as journal entries and reconciliations Focus on process improvements and automation Maintain operational reconciliation and exception procedures, addressing changes due to new products, systems, and improvements Identify opportunities to standardize processes, automate, eliminate non-value added activities, and implement improvements Support other groups with ad hoc analyses Qualifications
5+ years of experience in accounting, reconciliation, or financial operations Strong knowledge of GAAP and reconciliation best practices Experience with high-volume transaction matching in a financial services or payments environment Hands-on experience with Blackline Matching, SQL, or other reconciliation tools Proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, Power Query) and Alteryx Public company experience preferred Experience in banking or fintech preferred Excellent organizational and communication skills Exceptional attention to detail Strong data analysis, investigative and problem-solving skills Team player, energetic, detail-oriented, and a self-starter Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Willing to contribute beyond the defined role to meet business needs Additional Information
