Position Overview: The Cost Accountant will manage operations, logistics, and inventory control functions related to financial impacts. The role requires understanding activity-based costing, lean manufacturing concepts, and experience with ERP systems (preferably Great Plains). The candidate must have an accounting or finance degree, strong manufacturing and cost accounting knowledge, and proficiency in MS Office. The position reports to the Controller and requires self-direction on projects.
Responsibilities: Sales, Cost of Sales, and Margin Analysis:
Develop and maintain sales and gross margin tracking, support planning and forecasting, track sales order backlog, shipments, and invoice timing, and analyze costs per job. Inventory and Capital:
Manage ERP closing processes, inventory valuation, lead physical inventories, support month-end close, perform obsolescence calculations, forecast inventory levels, and support capital investment reporting. Manufacturing and Operational Costs:
Analyze labor and overhead expenses, monitor warranty costs, support product platform financials, and optimize ERP system transactions. Metrics and Reporting:
Manage headcount, labor hours, inventory, and sales data reporting.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required. Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience preferred. Proficient in Excel; project management experience is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
Advanced Excel, SQL, Power Pivot, Crystal Reports, MS Access, and MS Analysis & Reporting Server skills.
