SUMMARY:
Knowledgeable in Medicare, Medicaid, Worker’s Compensation, and Third Party Payer claim processing. Skilled in bookkeeping, computer applications related to claims processing, and possessing organizational skills to work independently. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow medical billing practices and manage Accounts Receivable effectively. Review problem claims with manager and monitor updates from insurance plans. Conduct follow-up calls for collections and provide professional customer service. Maintain logs for collections and QA purposes. Download Medicare receipts and submit claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurances. Enter charges, resubmit claims, and handle appeals. Research and resolve correspondence from insurance carriers or patients. Review and correct claim denials to ensure proper payment. Develop positive working relationships with staff and providers. Maintain confidentiality of records under HIPAA and related policies. Communicate medical information clearly and attend meetings as required. Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned. Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: Effective communication skills and good interpersonal skills. Knowledge of insurance policies and proficiency with accounts receivable systems. Competency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel. Discretion and confidentiality in handling information. Familiarity with policies regarding PHI reporting and release. Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma/GED. At least 1 year of experience in bookkeeping, clerical work, or related computer training. Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and collaborate in teams. Prior experience in hospital, physician office, or medical coding is preferred. Experience with Meditech Electronic Health Records is preferred. Additional Skills
Verbal and written communication in English. Proficiency in mathematical and statistical calculations. Reasoning Ability
Responds effectively to unusual or varied situations not covered by existing standards or procedures. Work Environment
Requires standing, walking, sitting, stair climbing, and handling objects. Must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently. Specific vision abilities include close focus and clear vision. Additional Details
