Job Summary
Gains the necessary skills to successfully graduate from the Police Academy and attain MPOETC certification. Accompanies police officers in conducting patrols, enforcing laws, and responding to calls. Develops and enhances skills and understanding of laws, policies, and procedures. Recruits potential candidates, provides program information, and attends promotional events.
Essential Functions -Develop skills in law enforcement.
-Accompany officers in conductingfoot and vehicular patrols of a university campus.
-Buildstrong relationships in a multi-cultural environment.
-Grow a comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federallaws.
-Gain skills in police reporting, investigation, andcourt testimony.
-Speak with potential candidates regarding the program over phone, email,and/or department sanctioned social media accounts.
-Attend events including tabling, career fairs, and information sessions to recruit potential new candidates at othercampuses and in Pennsylvania.
-Produce written or video materials detailing their experience in the police academyand/or Pitt Police Training Program Salary & Compensation.
-The successful candidate will receive an hourly Academyrate.
-An educational expense agreement will compensateAct 120 Academy Tuition, room, and meal plan.
Physical Effort Ability to communicate over phone/radio. Provide security protection for the campus community. Requires prolonged periods of walking, standing and sitting. Ability to operate a motor vehicle, all-terrain vehicle and successfully pass any required firearms qualification required by the department.

Failing to graduate from the Academy or attaining MPOETC certification within 30 days because of conduct, ethics, or policy violations will result in termination. Work Schedule Varies as needed Work Arrangement On-Campus: Teams that work on campus, in an office, or in a lab. Hiring Range 20.01 academy; 22.51 graduation, yearly increases Relocation Offered No Visa Sponsorship Provided No Background Check For position finalists, employment with the University will require successful completion of a background check Child Protection Clearances The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks are required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
