Metro Nashville International Airport (BNA) Department of Public Safety is hiring for the MNAA's Department of Public Safety. This position is part of a certified agency that provides police service as well as Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) and emergency medical services to airport visitors. Overview Accepting applications until: Oct 24th. POST Certified Preferred (Not Required). Multiple Openings. If selected, prior documents may be required for testing. Written and physical fitness tests are scheduled; applicants selected to test will be notified by email with attendance confirmation due by Oct 29th. Starting Salary: $55,450 (uncertified); $61,106 (certified).

Shift 12-Hour Shifts – rotation of every other weekend off; Teams A & B, 5:45 am – 6:15 pm; Teams C & D, 5:45 pm – 6:15 am.

Job Summary The Officer is responsible for protecting the life and property of the public within BNA’s jurisdiction by recognizing and reporting unsafe conditions, actions, or environmental hazards. Other responsibilities include operating ARFF vehicles and performing vehicular and pedestrian traffic control.

Ensures strict compliance with MNAA and TSA standard operations, policies and procedures.

Maintains logs for utilizations, reports, and training records.

Serves as first responder for medical emergencies at a minimum.

Upholds the laws of the United States and the State of Tennessee.

Handles police responsibilities for traffic crashes, moving citations, traffic control, and emergency calls.

Investigates reported crimes, obtains arrest warrants, makes arrests, and apprehends suspects as necessary.

Sweeps concourses for prohibited items and responds to security incidents.

Responds to medical, security, and safety alarms and incidents; patrols terminal, parking lots, and perimeter areas.

Responds to aircraft emergencies, fuel spills, and escorts; assists in environmental safety compliance (OSHA).

Operates ARFF vehicles and firefighting equipment; performs traffic control duties.

Assists individuals in need and coordinates with other agencies when required.

Maintains regular and on-time attendance and adheres to safety regulations.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics

Knowledge of FAA and TSA airport security programs.

Attention to detail; thorough in completing tasks.

Clear criminal history and driving record; U.S. citizenship.

Must successfully complete required medical, psychological, physical fitness tests, and entry-level law enforcement skills test if uncertified or non-degreed.

Ability to perform shift work in a 24/7 operation; ability to obtain and maintain SIDA badge.

Meet Distant Visual Acuity requirements and color vision standards.

Qualifications Required:

US Citizen; valid Class D driver’s license.

Uncertified

High school diploma/equivalent and three years of work experience (see subcriteria). Eligible candidates may have multiple employers if criteria are met; or EMT certification or military experience with specific conditions.

Preferred/Certified

POST certification on hire date; 2 years of college (60 semester hours); 1–2 years of experience in law enforcement, ARFF, or EMS.

Tennessee Lateral Law Enforcement Training Academy; Basic Fire Academy; Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) School.
