The Arts, Humanities, and Philosophy department is seeking part‑time instructors for Philosophy in Spring 2026 and for its adjunct pool. Applicants should be prepared to teach partially and fully face‑to‑face courses at Los Medanos College’s Pittsburg and Brentwood campuses. Our Vision for Social Justice

Provide instruction in accordance with the established curriculum, course outlines, and class schedules. Create and maintain a learning environment that emphasizes discussion of ideas and critical thinking. Evaluate progress of students concerning educational matters and grades. Meet with students outside of class. Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas. Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member. Maintain accurate academic records. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications
Master’s in philosophy OR Bachelor’s in philosophy AND Master’s in humanities or religious studies, OR equivalent. Understanding of and sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and faculty. License/Certificates/Credentials and desirable qualifications as applicable. Benefits
