Overview
Implements and troubleshoots process control systems for the City’s Water and Wastewater treatment facilities and pumping stations. Troubleshoots and repairs all types of plant and pumping station instrumentation and process control equipment associated with the wastewater and water treatment process. Design, test and installation of instruments and related equipment. Repair and test, disassembly and assembly of process-related control equipment. Repair and calibration of electronic and pneumatic controls associated with plant cryogenic oxygen supply and activated sludge systems. Repair, calibrate and maintain plant process control support systems including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Provides detailed documentation during and upon project completion. Performs preventative maintenance on MCCs, Wound Rotor motors, DC motors as required. Assists with plant electrical equipment maintenance and repair including 15kV primary distribution systems and apparatus. Follows safe practices in the performance of duties. Graduation from High School or completion of a GED is required; a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred. Completion of a trade school with technical degree is required. Some experience with Foxboro, Moore, Rosemount and Siemens pressure/current transmitters is required. Two (2) years experience in the maintenance and repair of water/wastewater plant electrical equipment with some supervisory experience is highly desired. At least three (3) years working experience is highly desired. Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a valid Pennsylvania State Driver’s License is required. Possession of or ability to obtain a Collection System Certification Class E as issued from the Department of Environmental Protection or pass such certification no later than eighteen (18) months (Full – time) in this position. Environmental Conditions
Indoors, Environmentally Controlled. Exposed to inclement weather and extreme temperature, including long periods of standing outdoors. Works outdoors and indoors with, or without, heat and/or air conditioning. Exposure to noise and pollution. Works around various sized tanks; above ground and underground; filled and unfilled with water. Safety Equipment Used or Needed
Personal protection equipment related to water/wastewater treatment chemicals. Personal protection equipment related to electrical hazards. Comments
Requires frequent walking, standing and kneeling. Requires ability to climb tank ladders up to 120 feet. Works around motorized or moving equipment and machinery. Requires occasional lifting up to 50 lbs with use of handcarts and hoists. Requires working long hours and must be available to handle emergency situations after hours, weekends and holidays. Operate a vehicle on private and public streets is required. Proven proficiency in knowledge, understanding and use of the Microsoft (or similar) suite of tools (Word, and Excel, Outlook or Lotus Notes) is required. Proven abilities to be highly organized and to communicate effectively are required. Proven ability to read, write, speak and comprehend written or oral instructions in English is required. Proven ability to work as part of a team and to collaborate successfully with others is required.
