Base pay range: $75,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr

Overview The Senior Systems Administrator is a key member of the IT department responsible for managing, securing, and optimizing the organization's network and systems infrastructure. This role directly reports to the IT Support Manager under the supervision of VP of IT, and combines advanced system administration expertise with high-level network administration responsibilities, ensuring that CRF’s technology environment remains secure, resilient, and scalable. The ideal candidate brings proven technical skills, experience supporting mission-driven organizations, and the ability to align IT operations with organizational goals.

Minimum Qualifications

Maters Degree in Information Technology, or Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

5+ years of progressive experience as a System Administrator or Network Administrator, with at least 2 years in a senior-level or lead role

Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN), routing, and switching

Proven experience with Windows Server administration, Active Directory, virtualization platforms, and enterprise backup solutions

Hands-on experience with network security, firewalls, and compliance-driven IT environments

Experience in non-profit or social services organizations strongly preferred

Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills

Effective communicator with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences

Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Azure Administrator, VMware Certified Professional) preferred

Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Network & Systems Administration : Design, implement, and maintain a robust and secure network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless systems

Proactively monitor network and server performance, identifying and resolving issues to maintain high availability and reliability

Manage Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, and related services

Administer virtualization environments (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud-based infrastructure (Azure, AWS) to ensure scalability and business continuity

Plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and patch management with minimal downtime

Security & Compliance : Implement and enforce network and system security policies, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls

Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and security audits, reporting findings and remediation plans to the VP of IT

Ensure compliance with industry standards, data privacy regulations (HIPAA, SOC 2), and internal IT governance policies

Backup, Disaster Recovery & Continuity : Lead the development and execution of backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans to safeguard mission-critical data and services

Test and document recovery procedures regularly, ensuring readiness for potential outages or security incidents

Systems Integration & Project Leadership : Integrate enterprise applications, databases, and cloud services with core infrastructure

Actively participate in IT projects, providing technical leadership, documentation, and implementation support

Collaborate with IT leadership to plan, budget, and execute strategic technology initiatives

Documentation & Asset Management : Maintain up-to-date documentation for network configurations, system processes, and IT policies

Manage hardware and software inventory, licensing, and lifecycle planning to optimize IT assets

End-User Support & Training : Serve as a tier-3 escalation point for complex network and system issues

Provide training and guidance to IT staff, helping to build internal capabilities and improve support processes

Deliver excellent customer service to staff across all program sites, ensuring minimal disruption to operations

Collaboration & Organizational Engagement : Partner with program directors and department heads to understand business requirements and align technology solutions

Travel regularly across NYC program sites to support IT operations and deploy equipment

Participate in vendor management, procurement, and technology evaluation processes

Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to recommend enhancements

Physical Requirements : Ability to lift and transport IT equipment (desktops, laptops, monitors, printers) as required; must be comfortable with on-site support, including occasional evenings/weekends during critical upgrades or incidents
