Role overview: Collins Aerospace is seeking an Onsite SQL Engineer to maintain multiple MSSQL, PostgreSQL and MySQL instances. The ideal candidate should have experience in many of the required technical skills below. This position requires working independently under limited oversight while supporting and maintaining the environment. What You Will Do
Configure, manage and maintain Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL and MySQL database servers in accordance with established best practices for performance and security. May require off-hour support. Implement and maintain SQL server DISA STIGs. Install, configure and integrate SQL servers and support dependent applications. Management and validation of SQL Backups as well as restorals. Build highly available server clusters. Document, test and implement SQL server services. Assess and evaluate current deployments providing recommendations for enhancements. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures. Create and defend system change requests. Manage user requests for assistance, application installation and upgrades. Configuring and supporting security support infrastructure including backups, anti-virus software, patch management and vulnerability scanning. Install and upgrade SQL server components, when possible supporting integration of automation processes. Troubleshoot hardware and software errors, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues. Create documentation of all work performed to capture configuration and installation procedures. Support security staff in compliance and vulnerability audits of SQL Servers and supporting client systems, implementing security remediation, and during accreditation events. Work with fellow engineers to identify database design changes required to support changing processes or requirements. Qualifications You Must Have
A strong understanding and knowledge of computer, network, and security systems. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work well independently under limited oversight, be self-directed and able to prioritize work. Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience. Active and transferable TS/SCI U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. Must be able to attain and maintain a DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ or CISSP preferred). Qualifications We Prefer
Experience with Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Windows Server environment, Postgres, MySQL, and Linux. Understanding of basic network engineering fundamentals, including OSI layers, IP addressing, sub-netting, TCP/IP stack, VLANs, DHCP, etc. Willingness to learn new technologies and applications as required. Demonstrated experience implementing computer security. Ability to adapt both an offensive and defensive mindset to support securing information systems, to quickly switch tasks based on changing priorities, to work with limited supervision, and to work with an extremely risk-averse customer and their policies. This role is based in the U.S. RTX anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from posting. Salary range: 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD.
