Overview of the Position: The U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of Nevada, has an opening for a
Temporary Law Clerk
to assist the U.S. Bankruptcy Judges. This is a
full-time position
located in the Las Vegas office. The appointment is temporary for
one year and one day
(subject to funding).
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: performing legal research, drafting memoranda, orders, and other writings, and coordinating settlement conferences.
This position requires mandatory electronic fund transfer for payment of net pay and a background check, including fingerprinting.
Qualifications Applicants for appointment at a JSP Grade 11 must be law school graduates (or have completed all law school requirements and awaiting degree conferment) from a recognized law school and meet one of the following criteria: Standing within the upper third of their law school class from an ABA or AALS approved school; Experience on the law review editorial board of such a school; Graduation with an LLM degree from such a school; or Demonstrated proficiency in legal studies, deemed equivalent by the judge. For appointment at JSP Grades 12 or 13, applicants must also be members of the Bar of a federal, state, or territorial court of general jurisdiction and have the following full-time legal work experience after law school: JSP 12 – one year of legal experience; JSP 13 – two years of legal experience.
