Under the direction of a Manager of Information Technology Services within the Chief Information Security Office (CISO)/Information Security Engineering/Patching section, the Information Technology Specialist 3 (Information Security), SG-23 position will be a senior member of the Windows Server Patching unit. The incumbent will install security patching on ITS supported Windows servers and act as a senior subject matter expert on patching processes, procedures, tools, and best practices. The role requires availability during off-shift hours to ensure appropriate response to security incidents or other critical activities that may impact sensitive information, critical systems, NYS agencies, or ITS. The position will be located in Latham, NY with possible locations in NYC or Rochester. Specific duties include: Evaluate and monitor the deployment, efficiency, and needs for security patching (Microsoft and third party) on ITS supported Windows systems. Attend necessary meetings to coordinate patching tasks with agency support staff, ITS staff, and others. Report on measurable data pertaining to Windows server patching. Provide technical assistance to other teams within CISO and ITS as required. Ensure communications, processes, and teamwork within Information Security Engineering consider the operational concerns of peer teams across CISO and CTO, maintaining a collaborative attitude to fulfill the mission of CISO and CTO. Monitor and remain aware of information security industry trends, tools, and techniques. Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities and other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Non-competitive: five years of information technology, cybersecurity, or information assurance experience. Substitutions: a bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science or related field substitutes for three years of required experience; any bachelor’s substitutes for two years of required experience. An associate degree with 15 semester credit hours in computer science or related field may substitute for one year of required experience. Candidates in a bachelor’s degree program with at least 15 semester credit hours in computer science or related field may substitute such credits for one year of required experience. A master’s degree or higher in computer science or related field substitutes for one year of required experience. Preferred Qualifications Good oral and written communication skills including the ability to clearly articulate information technology and information security concepts to a varied audience to facilitate understanding. Familiarity with one or more enterprise OS patching technologies. Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills. Additional Information

ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis.
