Overview
Optometric Technician (All Family Vision Care) at VSP Ventures. The primary role is to assist the Optometrist with eye examinations and patient eye care, including conducting pre-testing or special testing, taking patient histories, and guiding patients through the eye care and clinical experience. Responsibilities
Prepare patients before the examination by gathering information about vision and medical history, explaining the exam process, and documenting all needed information in the patient’s record. Operate technology and clinical instruments, take measurements, and administer tests to determine visual capabilities in preparation for the vision examination. Perform contact lens insertion; educate and train patients on insertion and removal. Order and manage contact lenses of various types and designs, and oversee contact lens trial inventory. Administer topical ophthalmic and dilation medications as directed. Scribe for the doctor and translate as needed. Prioritize patient care and patient flow; communicate effectively with doctors, staff, and patients. Assist in therapy exercises or procedures under the direction of the Optometrist. Support other office operations as needed (answering phones, verifying insurance, checking in patients, scanning charts, maintaining a clean office, and managing check-in/out). Work on special projects, cross-train in different departments, and perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Qualifications
One to two years of experience in a related field. Working knowledge of MS Office. Effective verbal and written communication skills to prioritize tasks and document patient visits. Excellent interpersonal and rapport-building skills. Ability to ask relevant questions to identify patient needs and to listen, process transactions, and interact with patients in a fast-paced environment. Base pay and benefits
This range is provided by VSP Ventures. The actual pay will be based on skills and experience; talk with your recruiter to learn more. Base pay range : $16.00/hr - $19.00/hr Compensation may include eligible incentives, bonuses, and/or commissions dependent on the role.
