IO Datasphere, Inc. has been providing project management, software development and IT staff augmentation services to our clients in the Midwest and throughout the U.S. since 1996. We are an approved vendor on contract to provide software development and IT staff augmentation services for the States of Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. We also provide these services to businesses, as well as local and county governments, in the Midwest and nationwide.
Responsibilities Client is looking for a Database Administrator with formal change control experience. The environment is predominantly Sybase 15.7 on Solaris x86 and SQL Server on Windows Server, with an upcoming project to update versions. The selected candidate will need experience with both Sybase and SQL Server, Unix background running and developing CRON jobs, and capability to assist senior DBAs during after‑hours implementations. Tasks include weekly data fixes (Thu/Fri) and reducing overall time per DBA. The secondary goal is to take work off the SQL Server DBAs and work with clusters and disaster recovery in dev/test/prod environments.
Qualifications
10+ years as a Database Administrator
4‑5 years experience with Sybase ASE 15.7
4‑5 years experience with SQL Server
Unix/Solaris/Linux experience
Troubleshooting experience
Experience with formal change control environments
Experience with Windows Servers
Bachelor’s Degree
Desired Skills
ETL tools migration
Familiar with Sybase ASE 15.7
Experience migrating from Sybase to SQL Server
Rate depends on experience
Authorized to work in the US (H1B, TN, etc). OPT or CPT not accepted
Direct W2 employees only
Location Lansing, MI (Hybrid – onsite Tuesdays/Wednesdays, two days a week. No remote only option.)
