With direction from the Terminal Manager, the Router will develop, implement, and manage school transportation software suite and ensure the daily coverage for school bus routes, field trips, and sporting events. GPS programs, maps, computer data files, graphic data and updates are used for vehicle route optimization and to ensure our customers are serviced in the most effective and efficient manner. The Router works to efficiently and cost-effectively manage day-to-day transportation needs from stop locations to time spent on a bus to route, while effectively communicating to all levels of operations, school district, parents and providing daily instruction to drivers. Job Summary

Duties/Responsibilities

Develop, implement and maintain routing utilizing computerized software Develop optimization strategies for current and future routes using various GPS programs designed to ensure our customer is serviced in a highly effective and efficient manner. Provide routing process improvement recommendations to management Recommend specific changes to help increase productivity and efficiency Create, edit, correct, and delete routes as well as observe and track route timing. Communicate with schools, parents, drivers and aides; Answers telephone inquiries and communicate on two-way radio providing instruction to drivers Assist with scheduling when needed to ensure all vehicles are staffed for the day Read and follow established School District contracts Report concerns, violations or issues to the Terminal Manager Keep records and submit reports as required or requested Be on-call for emergencies and weekends as needed; Drive a bus as needed Participate in any company required training, or as assigned by manager. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. All other duties as assigned by Management

Required Skills/Abilities-Essential Functions

Excellent Customer Service Skills and Interpersonal Skills Intermediate Computer skills including entire Microsoft office suite Ability to learn new skills, systems and software Familiarity with routing software preferred Ability to prioritize tasks Thrive in a fast-past environment Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor and co-workers Ability to deal with problems and find solutions Must have knowledge of Federal and State regulations Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills State-Required Commercial Drivers License with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements State specific requirements

Current report of Physical Examination (DL51 and DL51A) Current report of Driver Physical Examination Demonstrated proficiency in the operation of assigned vehicles. May include extra equipment such as wheelchair lifts, and air brakes under all road and weather conditions Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle as evidenced by a good driving record Ability to physically perform the essential functions of the job While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in outside weather conditions and be exposed to heat, cold, wet and/or humid weather conditions The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud Attend work on a regular and dependable basis Ability to successfully pass state and/or federal required Background Checks Ability to perform the essential functions of the job Ability to comply with all policies and procedures established by company

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment At least two (2) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid CDL or ability and willingness to obtain one within 90 days of employment Must be at least 21 years of age with 3 years of driving experience Certificate of training in first aid and CPR, if required by local contract A first aid endorsement on the special driver's certificate or a certificate of training in first aid and a certificate of training for CPR, if required by local contract
