Overview
HDR Engineering is looking for an electrical
Power Distribution Engineer-In-Training (EIT)/Coordinator
to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals in our Bismarck, ND office. The primary duties of the EIT/Coordinator include the execution of the technical aspects & deliverables for their assigned projects. The EIT/Coordinator will be expected to learn and grow into the role where they will be able to complete the technical requirements of transmission line projects of basic to moderate complexity. The EIT/Coordinator will be assigned tasks and mentored by senior staff team members. Specific duties include but are not limited to: Assist with the development of overhead and underground power distribution line design packages including but not limited to:
Preparation of cost estimates. Develop material specifications documents. Develop staking sheets. Develop construction drawing packages.
Assist with power distribution planning services including but not limited to:
Distribution system model development and updates. Conduct electrical system analyses to develop power-related design options or recommendations. Distribution protection settings and coordination. AutoCAD and GIS system exhibit development.
Complete written reports and routine engineering assignments requiring application of industry standard techniques and procedures. Perform other duties as needed Preferred Qualifications
Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification. Candidates hired without EIT will be called a Distribution Coordinator. Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with emphasis in Power. Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired. Experience performing structural analysis, project cost estimates, plan and profile preparation, optimization, specifications and drawings, and other engineering documents required for overhead and underground line projects. Experience performing aspects associated with overhead and underground electrical distribution system analysis and design, lighting design, distribution field staking, joint-use field review and design, and knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). Experience with line design industry software including: CYMCAP, ETAP, Polywater Pull Planner, PLS-CADD, Spida Calc, Pole Foreman, etc.. Experience with system modeling software including Aspen, CYME, SKM Power Tools, Synergi, WindMil, etc. Strong written and verbal communication skills Some field work and travel may be required Preference will be given to local candidates Required Qualifications
