Responsibilities
Analyze and troubleshoot fundamental technical problems or issues Review, interpret and work with various fiber cut sheets, drawings, blueprints and testing documents; identify fiber types and color codes Make fusion splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial, and building work locations Able to troubleshoot and repair problems utilizing optical test equipment such as OTDR, Fiber Identifier, Power Meter, and Fiber Scope Prep fiber optic cables into new enclosures, splice trays, and fusion splice optic fiber cable ranging from single fiber to large-count cables, including mid entries or ring cuts when needed Terminate, splice, and install a variety of fiber optic connectors and enclosures including both loose tube fiber, ribbon fiber, break-out fiber Proficient in using fiber tools and fiber optic test equipment including fusion splicers, uni-cam tool kit, anaerobic termination kit (Sumitomo, Fujikura, CommScope, Corning), power meter and OTDR (Fluke Networks, EXFO) Accurately test fiber (multimode and single-mode) cables to the required certification Install pulling cable, fire stopping, and pre-termination; organize, form, dress, and label cables to industry standards Determine closet and equipment layouts and install closet hardware, including backboards, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures Qualifications
Ability to read, review, interpret and understand technical documents Working knowledge of using hand and power tools Ability to work with others and independently Ability to complete a designated amount of work in a specified time frame, adjusting work assignments or schedules to meet changing priorities Ability to anticipate and solve problems Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities Demonstrate communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal, to facilitate information sharing within the company and with clients Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Education And Experience
2+ years of fiber optics experience in a commercial or industrial setting Minimum of 1 year splicing fiber Offshore experience preferred At least 2 years of experience with terminating, fusion splicing and testing fiber TWIC Card preferred Certified as a BICSI Technician or similar certification preferred High school degree or equivalent Work Type
