Electrical & Instrumentation Technician

Reporting to the Electrical Controls Supervisor, this is a Days position with periodic overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays, working independently or in a team, safely and efficiently maintain, install, and repair electronic equipment, and diagnose malfunctions using applied knowledge and experience. Responsibilities
Abide by all Company policies outlined in the Employee Handbook and comply with all Company, Local, State and Federal regulations relating to Health, Safety, Operations, etc. Successfully participate in and complete all training sessions, safety classes, pre-shift meetings, and/or certifications related to the position. Have knowledge of, and proficiency in, troubleshooting, installation, fabrication, maintenance, repair and testing of Analog/Digital control loops, PLCs, various valves, transmitters, controllers, probes, electronic, pneumatic, automatic controls, frequency drives, various motor starters, motors and electrical equipment, power and lighting panel boards, instrumentation and controls, analog and digital control loops, and power distribution equipment, 480V, 240V, 208V, 120V. Have knowledge of, and proficiency in, troubleshooting and installing AC/DC multi-wire control systems. Demonstrate the ability and proficiency to perform essential job functions such as: respond to, repair, and/or assist others in breakdowns; use tools and read tape measures, meggers, multimeters and/or other related metering and measuring equipment; maintain written documentation pertaining to the job, including documenting all maintenance and work orders using CMMS; read and apply processes and procedures according to operating and maintenance manuals; operate overhead crane, forklift, man lift; precisely calibrate measuring instruments; operate PLC equipment using a touch screen; perform load calculations for sizing of wire and breakers according to NEC specifications, and selection and installation of conduit; follow proper safety and housekeeping procedures; learn and implement CGMP; work the posted schedule with shift work and overtime as necessary; learn medium and high voltage Power Distribution Systems (e.g., 13.8kV and lower). Ability to read electrical schematics and perform layout work; identify and manipulate colored wiring; demonstrate comprehension of safety and PPE requirements. Qualifications
Must have positive results from Company-designated tests designed to measure basic skills, job skills, mechanical aptitude and/or other interests, skills and characteristics. Must be 18 years of age or older and have a good work record and disciplinary history. Must read, write and speak English to comprehend instructions on the job, over the radio, and in the classroom, and to ensure safety. New hires must pass a drug test and other pre-employment background screening, and successfully complete any required training or orientation course. Must possess basic computer skills and an aptitude for working with and interpreting graphics related to process equipment. Demonstrate the physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job; applicant must be in good health and physically able to perform all phases of the work. Applicant must have colored vision and the use of both hands to identify and manipulate colored wiring, and to read electrical schematics and perform layout work. Must be capable of obtaining forklift certification within 30 days as necessary. Working Conditions
80% of the work environment is conducted in an open outdoor environment, exposed to heights and rapidly changing temperatures including extreme heat, weather conditions, blowing dust and particles, burning bulk and liquid fuel, while wearing PPE; regularly climbing stairs and/or ladders, kneeling, crawling, bending, stooping, reaching, and walking on uneven ground containing trip hazards. 20% of the work environment requires routinely lifting, loading, pushing and pulling of up to 50 lbs, exposure to live electrical current, electronic industrial magnets, and pressurized steam, and occasionally accessing enclosed/confined spaces; may be fitted for and wear a respirator.
