As an Aerial Construction Technician II - Fiber Optics, you will play a vital role in building and maintaining fiber optic networks by installing, troubleshooting, and repairing overhead fiber lines. This position involves pulling, tensioning, stranding, and spacing lines, as well as performing pole transfers, strand building, lashing, make-readies, and mounting equipment. You will work in both communication and power spaces and gain experience in a growing industry. What You'll Do
Safely perform work in communication spaces
Qualify to work safely in energized spaces
Participate in work requiring pole climbing
Inspect, mobilize, and operate a bucket truck from the cab
Record and report the sequential footmarks by the operator or groundman
Responsible for framing poles
Pull cable, strand, fiber, and lash for extended periods
Provide framing and attachment hardware for the operator, jack-down guys, pull lashers
Working conditions
Walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb ladders and stairs; crawl/kneel
Climb poles; carry, set up and extend ladders up to 65 pounds; work at heights up to 60 feet
Work indoors, outdoors, and underground in various weather conditions
Able to walk long distances
Able to lift up to 65 pounds without assistance
What you'll bring
2-4 years of relevant fiber optics experience preferred
Mastery of Aerial Construction Technician I job duties
Ability to safely perform work in communication spaces and energized spaces
Experience with pole climbing and use of basic hand tools (Cordless Drill, Hammer, Wrench, Socket Set)
Ability to inspect, mobilize, and operate a bucket truck from the cab
Experience pulling cable, strand, fiber, and lash for extended periods
Assist with field repairs and site housekeeping as needed
