Aerial Construction Technician II - Fiber Optics , you’ll play a vital role in building and maintaining fiber optic networks by installing, troubleshooting, and repairing overhead fiber lines. This dynamic and physically engaging position involves pulling, tensioning, stranding, and spacing lines, as well as performing pole transfers, strand building, lashing, make-readies, and mounting equipment. You’ll work in both communication and power spaces, gaining valuable experience in a growing industry. Safely perform work in communication spaces
Qualify to work safely in energized spaces
Participate in work requiring pole climbing
Inspect, mobilize, and operate a bucket truck from the cab
Record and report the sequential footmarks by the operator or groundman
Responsible for framing poles
Pull cable, strand, fiber, and lash, for extended periods of time
Provide framing and attachment hardware for the operator, jack-down guys, pull lashes
Working Conditions
Walk/use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls / Reach with hands and arms / Climb ladders and stairs / crawl/kneel
Climb poles; carry, set up and extend ladders weighing up to 65 pounds, as well as work with confidence on ladders and utility poles at heights of up to 60 feet in the air to perform tasks in communications spaces
Work indoors, outdoors, and underground in various weather conditions
Able to walk long distances
Able to lift up to 65 pounds without assistance
Preferred Qualifications
2-4 years of relevant Fiber Optics experience preferred
Mastery of Aerial Construction Technician I Job Duties including safety in communication and energized spaces, pole climbing, operation of basic hand tools, bucket trucks, and equipment, as well as documentation and safety hazard recognition
Proficient in use of ladders, bucket trucks, man lifts, cable pullers, reel stands, and small equipment (forklift, bobcat, telehandler, skid steer, etc.)
Flagger Certification
Comfort working at heights and in confined spaces
