Senior Accounting and Payroll Specialist
CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA) Search has been retained by GTC Law Group to identify a Senior Accounting and Payroll Specialist. The firm is headquartered just outside of Boston and operates under a distributed office model, with most employees working remotely across North America. The finance team is primarily based on Boston’s scenic South Shore. Our client is seeking a highly motivated, full-time professional to lead and manage the firm-wide payroll and accounts receivable functions. While the role is ultimately hybrid, it requires regular on-site presence at the firm’s main office. What You’ll Do: Payroll Management Independently process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll cycles. Audit payroll files for accuracy and compliance with offer letters and regulations. Ensure accurate implementation of deductions prior to payroll approval. Maintain payroll reports and reconcile payments, bonuses, and withholdings. Create and post payroll journal entries in the general ledger. Calculate and submit 3% Safe Harbor contributions, employee 401(k) contributions, and loan repayments. Accounts Receivable (AR) Monitor bank accounts and record cash receipts in integrated accounting software. Execute monthly AR processes including client statements, follow-ups, and reconciliations. Respond to client inquiries and resolve AR discrepancies. Generate internal AR status reports and manage aging schedules. Forecast collections and support monthly financial projections. Accounts Payable (AP) Process AP transactions in alignment with firm policies and timelines. Manage monthly AP close, vendor onboarding, and reconciliation. Analyze vendor spend to identify cost-saving opportunities. Prepare and process payments via checks, wires, and ACH. File 1099s electronically and troubleshoot related system issues. Recommend workflow and process improvements. General Accounting & Support Provide accounting assistance to managers and operations staff. Respond to financial inquiries and support ad hoc reporting needs. Ensure compliance with internal controls and contribute to service enhancements. What You’ll Need: Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, including 2+ years in payroll management in a professional services firm with a strong preference for law firm experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with expert level proficiency in Excel. Authorized to work in the United States. The base pay range for this position is $75,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr.
