Low Voltage Lead Technician
Reports to Lead Communications Technician. Leads a crew of cable installers to deliver low voltage and fiber network solutions.
Job Summary Serves as a lead member of the technical team, coordinates small groups of installers, manages daily workload, and maintains safety and quality compliance.
Responsibilities
Install work area outlets, terminate CAT3 and CAT5 jacks, mount face plates, and surface mount boxes following IES COMMERCIAL labeling standards.
Build closets: mount and install backboards, cross-connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware; install grounding for racks and equipment.
Perform testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable; use volt-ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable; use tone set.
Identify active voice or data circuits.
Assume responsibility for crew performance, provide necessary training, coordinate personnel and timeline to complete projects.
Fully complete all IES COMMERCIAL paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required).
Adhere to and participate in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

Acts as the Company liaison for interface with customer representatives.
Possesses proven problem‑solving and critical thinking skills; can read, write and give oral presentation(s).
Can work at heights, off a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
Can see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
Can travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
Regular attendance is mandatory.
Tools
Screwdriver (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips, pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight and gloves; punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, tone set, 6/8 position combo crimp tool.
Education & Certification
High School diploma or GED equivalency.
Minimum two (2) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field and ability to supervise others.
Proficiency with the listed tools.
Proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
Knowledge of universal communications color codes.
Meet Company minimum driving standards.
