Salary $19–$21 per hour, with a shift differential added for overnight shift.
Hours & Scheduling
Monday‑Friday 7 am–3 pm
Tuesday‑Saturday 3 pm–11 pm
Sunday‑Thursday 11 pm–7 am*
*This is a full‑time position with flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, overnights, holidays, on‑call rotating schedule, and coverage during local disasters or public events.
Job Summary The Emergency Services Advocate provides advocacy, support, and information to victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. Responsibilities include delivering trauma‑informed, survivor‑centered, culturally responsive care, maintaining a welcoming environment, and coordinating services across Cornerstone’s shelter, hotel, crisis line, and walk‑in services.
Experience & Qualifications
Associate degree in psychology, social work, or human services, or comparable combination of experience.
1+ years of direct crisis response experience in a trauma‑informed setting.
Knowledge of trauma‑informed, survivor‑centered, culturally responsive care for domestic and sexual violence survivors.
Understanding of human services delivery to diverse, marginalized communities.
Basic knowledge of crime victim’s rights, civil remedies, and the criminal justice system.
Effective communication in a calm, de‑escalating manner with participants in crisis.
Preferred: Sexual assault certification or ability to complete training within 6 months; experience with Microsoft Office and client databases; valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
Essential Functions
Provide professional, confidential survivor‑centered support, advocacy, and safety planning via phone, in‑person, and walk‑in services.
Answer crisis line calls, provide referrals, and coordinate with medical, social services, law enforcement, and other personnel.
Screen and place participants into shelter/hotel or alternative safe housing.
Welcome new participants; conduct intake, provide basic needs, tour, and guidelines.
Respond to law enforcement contacts and follow up with participants as required.
Advocate and provide resources, crisis intervention, and interpreter services.
Assist residents with basic living skills and turnover tasks.
Maintain accurate data entry in Apricot and other tracking systems.
Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless referrals and up‑to‑date information.
Support training and mentoring of new staff, volunteers, or students.
Provide backup assistance to call center and other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements Regularly stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, and lift up to 30 pounds. Ability to work in high‑stress environments and maintain confidentiality. Reasonable accommodations available.
