Banqueting Sous Chef – Park Hyatt London River Thames
Hyatt Hotels Corporation is seeking an enthusiastic Banqueting Sous Chef to join our Park Hyatt London River Thames team.
Sous Chef Salary:
£46,350 + Service Charge
Responsibilities
Kitchen Leadership – supervise the banqueting kitchen team, ensuring smooth operations across all event functions and maintaining a high‑performing team culture.
Menu Execution & Quality Control – ensure all banquet dishes are prepared to the highest standards, maintaining consistency in taste, presentation, and timing across a variety of event formats.
Inventory & Cost Management – monitor stock levels, order supplies, and help manage food costs and waste reduction specific to banqueting operations.
Training & Development – mentor junior chefs and apprentices, fostering skill development, morale, and a culture of continuous improvement within the banqueting team.
Health & Safety Compliance – enforce hygiene standards, food safety protocols, and kitchen cleanliness in line with HACCP and local regulations.
Problem Solving & Decision‑Making – step in during service disruptions, resolve conflicts, and make quick decisions under pressure to ensure flawless event execution.
Collaboration with Head Chef – assist in menu planning, bespoke event offerings, and operational strategy, contributing to the overall success of the hotel’s banqueting and events business.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Junior Sous Chef in a luxury hotel or high‑end banqueting environment.
Extensive knowledge of food safety regulations and HACCP compliance.
Exposure to menu development and event‑specific culinary planning.
Proven ability to manage teams, delegate tasks, and maintain kitchen discipline.
Committed to delivering the highest standards of quality, consistency, and presentation while balancing creativity with operational and financial goals.
Preferred
Formal culinary training or diploma.
Ability to thrive in high‑pressure environments and adapt to changing event requirements or guest preferences.
Proven work experience or exposure to London‑based hotels, with knowledge of UK hospitality standards, local compliance, and service expectations for international guests.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
