CRISIS INTERVENTION SPECIALIST - CARRIER CLINIC - FULL TIME EVENINGS Requisition # 2025-171731 | Shift: Evening | Status: Full Time with Benefits

Responsibilities

Takes initiative to identify and intervene in crisis situations using appropriate de-escalation and/or crisis management.

Serves as point person during crisis events, directing staff and coordinating interventions.

Assesses environments, targets potential crisis situations, and intervenes calmly and supportively.

Leads and collaborates with teams across inpatient, campus outpatient, resident, and student settings.

Teaches Handle With Care and Verbal De-escalation techniques to staff under supervision of the CIS supervisor for new hires and annual refresher training.

Sets limits on symptomatic behavior, teaching alternative and appropriate behaviors.

Conducts focused debriefing sessions with new staff after a crisis with the RN.

Proactively rounds across the campus to identify and prevent patient escalations.

Accurately documents observations, interventions, and interactions in daily reports and CIS log for data collection.

Responds to emergencies as trained across Hospital, East Mountain Youth Lodge, and East Mountain School campus.

Performs mental health technician duties and monitors weekend recreation group sessions with unit staff.

Develops collegial relationships and shares observations contributing to the plan of care.

Participates in Performance Improvement activities and new staff orientation.

Attends required staff development programs annually (Medical Alert-Cardiac Emergency practices and CPR certification).

Models the 5 C standards of behavior.

Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Minimum of 3 years experience providing direct care in a behavioral health setting.

Ability to safely operate Carrier Clinic vehicles and transport residents/patients.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite).

Ability to act with urgency and move 200 lb patient/resident/student with assistance.

Flexibility to work any shift, as needed.

Preferred

Associate's degree in a health-related field.

Licenses And Certifications Required

Valid Driver's License.

AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification or completed within the first 90 days of employment.

Compensation Minimum rate of $22.77 Hourly. HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act.
