The Mandel Lab in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Memphis is recruiting a post-doctoral fellow in genomics and bioinformatics. Candidates with relevant analytical skills will be considered, regardless of the organism(s) previously studied. Exceptional skills in genomics and bioinformatics, a strong interest in organismal biology and evolution, and excellent communication skills are critical for success in this position. The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for data generation and analysis associated with a variety of comparative genomic, phylogenomic, and evolutionary studies of plants. They will contribute to the publication of findings, and participate in the preparation of written documents, including procedures, presentations, and proposals. The successful applicant will also contribute to the training and mentoring of undergraduate students and graduate trainees. This is a 12-month appointment with the potential for extension contingent upon continued funding and satisfactory performance. Screening of applicants will begin May 1, 2024 but the position is open until filled. The position offers a competitive salary plus benefits. Minimum Position Qualifications Ph.D. in bioinformatics, evolutionary biology, genetics/genomics, systematic biology, or similar. A record of scientific publication in peer-reviewed journals. Experience analyzing genomic/molecular data, including experience with Linux/Unix and data analysis via HPC. Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, including a proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Special Conditions Posting Date
