Provide manual-guided counseling (Recovery Guide counseling) to participants assigned to ICC-MOUD. Meet approximately weekly with participants assigned to ICC-MOUD for the first 12 weeks of treatment. Recovery Guides use active learning approaches to engage participants in learning about opioid use disorder, MOUD with buprenorphine, and the role of MOUD in treatment and recovery. Engage participants in behavioral change, making use of tools from the Recovery Guide toolkit to help participants develop short-term, achievable, critical goals and objectives (including, for example, returning for treatment appointments and adhering to prescribed MOUD) and to develop with the participant specific Recovery Plan Agreements to achieve the objectives. Track the participant’s progress implementing the plans and achieving the objectives and work with the participant to revise the plans as needed to increase success in accomplishing the objectives. Must have roots or connections with the community providers. Must be willing to participate in Recovery Guiding training and supervision. Must be willing to document recovery guide sessions and other related research documents. Recovery Guides follow up on visits, remind participants about upcoming appointments, and schedule assessments in advance. Identify specific, individual needs and steps the participant can take to support their sustained recovery (e.g., accessing social services, homelessness services, etc.).
