Advanced Practice Provider, Neurosurgery Inpatient
– OSF HealthCare In accordance with professional standards of care and the corporate philosophy of OSF Medical Group (OSFMG), the Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant is responsible for providing high-quality patient care in an inpatient neurosurgery setting, including assessments, care planning, and collaboration with the neurosurgery team. Responsibilities
Provide high-quality, patient-centered care aligned with each patient’s preferences, goals, and needs Deliver inpatient neurosurgery care in a hospital setting: comprehensive neurological assessments, daily rounding, histories and physicals, new consults, admissions, and discharges Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with attending neurosurgeons Prepare patients for surgery, manage postoperative care, and support smooth transitions of care across the continuum Order and interpret diagnostic tests (laboratory and imaging), prescribe medications, and document all care provided Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, and long-term management Collaborate with nursing, rehabilitation, and other specialty services to ensure coordinated, high-quality care Perform procedures alongside residents Exposure to a broad range of acute and complex neurological cases Work in a collaborative environment with neurosurgeons, residents, APPs, and multidisciplinary teams Two 12-hour shifts per week (5:45 AM – 6:15 PM), with rotating weekends and holidays Qualifications
Licensed to provide advanced practice nursing services in Illinois or physician assistant services in Illinois, per state regulations Licensed by the DEA and Illinois for prescribing narcotics BLS/ACLS certified Neurosurgery experience preferred; new graduates may be considered Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills Ability to thrive in a fast-paced hospital environment with a patient-centered focus Benefits and Total Rewards
