Summary:
The Sales Support Specialist – Utility is responsible operational and analytical support to the Utility Sales Team. This role ensures processes are executed efficiently, documentation is accurate and compliant, and the sales team is enabled to focus on client acquisition, relationship management, and revenue growth. The position requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders including Sales, Finance, Operations, Purchasing, and Customer Service.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Manages a portfolio of assigned Utility customer accounts, acting as the main contact for assigned outside sales reps and their customers. Takes responsibility for their assigned account orders – ensuring excellent customer service.
Acts as a liaison between the customer and the sales team.
Collaborates with other departments, such as Finance, Splicing, Warehouse, Manufacturing, and Purchasing, to ensure orders are progressing and customer needs are met.
Provides proactive outreach regarding status of orders, including back-ordered items, future dates orders, and procurement of special order/non-inventory items.
Manages and resolves escalated customer complaints and offers alternative solutions.
Provides customers with accurate product and service information, follows up when needed.
May be required to assist with non-utility related customer requests, such as in- & outbound phone calls, email, and chat.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and/or 4 years of professional experience in sales support, customer service, or operations
Experience working with outside sales force and handling key and national accounts
Strong computer skills, understanding of Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Excel & Word and Netsuite
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong independent thinking and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated success managing sales account relationships
Demonstrated success at using available resources to troubleshoot and problem solve
Good attention to detail – MUST be able to multi-task
Possess a “get it done” attitude & ability prioritize workload
Utility distribution sales experience/background preferred
