Overview

This is a position for a Campus Police Officer at an educational institution located in Gautier, MS. This is for the Evening Shift. Job Duties / Responsibilities

Answer directly to the Chief of Police and ensure safety of the campus community by enforcing Mississippi state laws and campus rules and regulations, using appropriate procedures. Complete and submit all required reports, logs, and forms. Be available to work all shifts and weekends, including sporting events and other college-wide events. Arrive on time for duty and maintain grooming standards; wear a neat uniform. Attend all training and meetings as prescribed by the Chief of Police. Patrol the campus, including corridors, buildings, and parking lots. Escort Faculty and Students when needed. Report hazards to the MGCCC Maintenance Department. Type written reports in the college database and complete the report by the end of the shift. Perform physically active duties (walking, directing traffic, lifting at least 20 lbs). Maintain professional conduct when dealing with Students or the public. Unlock and lock the campus daily and may be called to unlock offices for Faculty or events. Work independently or as part of a team; perform public relations tasks and assist the campus community when possible. Manage the college fleet vehicles. Assist in the supervision of student activities when requested by appropriate administrators. Prepare all necessary evidence for Campus Judicial hearings and/or criminal court; investigate campus crimes and incidents. Monitor and enforce all traffic and parking regulations. Issue parking decals and IDs to faculty and students. Make bank deposits as needed. Maintain a good working relationship with other law enforcement and emergency response agencies. Perform criminal background checks and monitor video surveillance cameras. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police and Dean of Business Services. Mandatory Qualifications

Hold a current Professional Certificate awarded by the Board on Law Enforcement Standards and Training of the State of Mississippi (qualified Mississippi Law Enforcement Officer under the Provisions of Chapter 474 General Laws of Mississippi, 1981). Provide Copy of Certificate from BLEOST. Ability to perform physically active duties (walking the campus, directing traffic, lifting at least 20 pounds). Exceptional communication and customer skills. Demonstrated experience in the use of computers and related software. Pass a background investigation. Desirable Qualifications

Three years of law enforcement experience. First Aid, CPR, AED, hazardous materials and/or other emergency response training. Experience in a community college or educational setting. Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice or related field. Documented investigative training and experience. EEO Statement
