Job Title: Assistant Coach Benefits: None Reports To: The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the principal. Job Goal: To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. The coach must also promote socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes. Performance Responsibilities: Thorough knowledge of all athletic policies approved by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools' Board of Education and responsible for their implementation. Understand the proper administrative line of command and refer all requests or grievances through proper channels. General: The success of athletic programs influences the community's image of the entire system. Public exposure is significant, and community/parent pressure for winning performance is high, but good sportsmanship and mental health must remain priorities. The role involves extended hours, risk of injury, and due process considerations. Coaches should exercise common sense and good judgment in unspecified situations. Student Responsibilities: Serve as a mentor to promote character traits such as trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
