The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the principal. Job Goal:
To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to achieve individual and team success. The coach must also promote socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes. General Responsibilities:
The success of athletic programs influences the community's image. The role involves extended hours, risk of injury, and adherence to due process. Coaches should exercise good judgment and common sense in all situations not specifically covered by the job description. Duties and Responsibilities:
Knowledge of athletic policies approved by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education is essential. The coach is responsible for implementing these policies and referring requests or grievances through proper channels. Student Responsibilities:
Serve as a mentor to promote character traits such as trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Provide guidance and safeguards during practices, games, and travel.
