Education Alternatives is seeking van drivers for the Willoughby Hills location. Van Drivers are paid hourly and are responsible for driving clients on an agency owned vehicle to and from our sites located throughout the greater Akron/Cleveland area and on field trips to various locations. This position is a part-time hourly position, Monday through Friday. Ohio Department of Education Certification training will be provided by Education Alternatives. Overview

Summary: The van driver will be responsible for safely transporting clients to and from their designated drop off points in a timely manner. Qualifications

Applicants must be at least 25 years old Must hold a valid Ohio driver's license Must have a good driving record, as determined by the Ohio Department of Education Must be able to pass a pre-service physical and drug test Must not have a criminal background that would disqualify applicant from working with children Other Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities

SKILLS: adhering to safety practice, administering first aid, applying pertinent policies, regulations and/or laws; operating agency vehicles, fire extinguisher, cell phone, and standard office equipment; and preparing and maintaining accurate records KNOWLEDGE: basic vehicle maintenance; first aid; health standards and hazards; cell phone communication; and utilizing wheelchairs, tie downs, child safety seats, lifts etc. ABILITY: being attentive to detail; communicating with diverse groups including school age riders; displaying tact and courtesy; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; exercising sound judgements; maintaining an understanding of the special needs of students and their parents; maintaining confidentiality; working as a part of a team; and working with constant distractions Responsibilities

Assesses incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations for the purpose of resolving or recommending a resolution to the situation Be able to work with clients with emotional and behavioral disabilities and intervene when necessary for the purpose of ensuring order and safety Assists clients and other passengers for the purpose of providing safe loading and unloading from vehicles Advises clients and other passengers of appropriate behavior for the purpose of reinforcing established guidelines and maintaining passenger safety Safely transport clients to/from their residence to/from their designated drop off point in a timely manner Informs day treatment personnel and parents of events, policies and/or practices for the purpose of providing information and/or clarification of procedures Responds to inquiries from clients, parents, and/or staff for the purpose of providing the necessary information regarding transportation services Maintains assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior for the purpose of ensuring safety, appearance, and sanitation of vehicle Fuels assigned vehicle for the purpose of maintaining vehicle and keeping it in safe operating condition Monitors passengers during transit for the purpose of maintaining order and ensuring the safety of passengers Performs first aid as necessary for the purpose of meeting the immediate health care needs of passengers Maintain ongoing communication with staff for the purpose of conveying and/or receiving information Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information Conduct safety checks on van before each departure and submit a daily pre-trip inspection form for the purpose of ensuring the safe operating condition of the vehicle and meeting state requirements Attend all agency trainings for the purpose of maintaining skills and meeting agency requirements Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
