Basic Job Functions Division: Nucor Steel Arkansas

Responsibilities The role of the Safety Coordinator includes, but is not limited to, working closely with Nucor Steel Arkansas teammates, contractors, and leadership to drive continuous improvement in safety culture, performance, and safety systems. The Safety Coordinator will interpret and practically apply regulatory and consensus standards (OSHA, NFPA, NRC, etc.), develop and update policies and procedures, conduct and document incident investigations, safety inspections/audits, develop action plans and follow up, and conduct safety training and participate in emergency response teams. This position requires a willingness to spend time on the floor to gain a thorough understanding of operations in their area. This position requires working scheduled and unscheduled overtime, some overnight travel, and the ability to be on call 24/7 to respond to safety needs. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 3 years safety experience in an industrial setting OR BS Degree in Occupational Safety & Health
Experience developing, conducting, and tracking safety training
Preferred Qualifications
First Respondent / EMT certification or willingness to obtain
Industrial Hygiene and Behavior-Based Safety experience
Safety training experience and certification (30-hour, fall protection, LOTOTO, etc.)
OSHA Voluntary Protection Program experience
