This position is posted to create a pool of candidates to fill positions as they become available. The Home & Hospital Teacher provides instruction to students by accessing AACPS curriculum, developing and delivering instructional plans, creating and securing instructional materials, and implementing modifications to meet the needs of students unable to attend school full-time due to medical or emotional conditions. Job Summary:

Provides for instruction of students by accessing AACPS curriculum, developing and delivering instructional plans, creating and securing instructional materials, and implementing modifications to meet the needs of students unable to attend school full-time due to medical or emotional conditions. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Provides appropriate grade level course instruction based on the mandated curriculum in a variety of settings and locations throughout Anne Arundel County. Utilizes appropriate instructional materials, resources, and technology, to enhance instruction and engage students, while supporting their diverse needs, modifications, and accommodations. Offers instruction to assist students in reaching their academic Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) goals, as applicable. Provides the required number of instructional hours and documents all content/curriculum covered at each session. Provides timely feedback concerning student progress to parents/guardians and secures parental/guardian consent or acknowledgement for each session. Implements positive behavior management strategies to support a positive learning relational environment. Maintains and logs communication with students' families, school-based point of contact, and Home and Hospital Teaching (HHT) Dept. Attends required meetings/trainings by AACPS, HHT Dept, and school-based team, as appropriate. Follows all procedures and policies in compliance with state law, HHT Department, and Board of Education Policies. Completes reports and paperwork in a timely manner. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required. Two (2) years successful classroom teaching preferred. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Other Characteristics: Knowledge of current trends, research in field of specialization and methodology in instructional techniques. Knowledge of 504 and IEP. Demonstrated ability to speak and write effectively. Ability to modify curriculum to meet the short-term, itinerant instructional service mandated by state law. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and planning skills. Ability to employ a variety of teaching styles to respond to the needs of diverse learners.
