Overview
Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 0825) at GameStop. Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations and helps develop a sales culture by creating individualized solutions for guests and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and a shared passion for gaming. You will be responsible for ensuring products are easy to see and buy, building sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, maintaining a clean and organized shopping environment, and growing guest loyalty and repeat business. This position supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns promptly and courteously, assist with gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, recommend additional items, apply selling behaviors, and thank guests for shopping at GameStop; circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks. Support the overall shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns promptly and accurately using the POS system, including handling changes, bagging merchandise, providing receipts, and delivering high-quality guest service. Respond to guest comments or questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-ins, Pro Rewards). Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines. Observe associate performance, provide feedback to the Store Manager, and address unsatisfactory performance to align with guest service expectations. Provide timely recognition and feedback to associates; document written feedback into the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure onboarding, job training, and compliance training are completed prior to opening/closing shifts; ensure knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethics. Assist in scheduling, ensure breaks and meals are accounted for, and supervise staffing to maintain optimal guest service. Approve payroll, enter time off, and verify compensation for time worked. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure store fixtures and equipment are in proper working order. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily. Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing as appropriate and communicate concerns to the Store Manager. Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative duties. Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented and organized on the sales floor. Balance daily transaction totals, complete closeout paperwork, and manage cash and bank deposits per guidelines. Verify shipments and record discrepancies; conduct inventories and communicate issues to the Store/ District Manager. Process defectives/ recalls and stock pulls with proper labeling and packing. Maintain safety awareness; address hazards and report injuries per guidelines. Maintain store records/files and ensure manuals are up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Store Manager’s absence. Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Follow opening and closing procedures. Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills. Provide genuine and individualized assistance to every guest. Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and both independently and in a team. Meet performance expectations, including attendance, safety, and respectful workplace. Operate POS system; basic math and alphabetizing skills. Complete required paperwork properly; follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Flexible schedule, including extended hours, nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days/week availability. Stay reliable, trustworthy, and able to work under pressure; maintain guest interactions. Ability to stand/walk for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs as needed.
