Assistant Girls' Soccer Coach – Middle School
Position: Assistant Girls' Soccer Coach – Middle School
The Assistant Girls' Soccer Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of leading the middle school boys' soccer program. This position assists in teaching fundamental soccer skills, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship, and fostering a positive environment that supports both athletic and personal growth for all student-athletes.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Player Development: Assists in evaluating players' abilities, providing individual feedback, and supporting skill improvement through organized drills and small-group instruction.
Practice and Game Support: Helps plan and conduct practices focused on technical, tactical, and physical development. Aids in implementing game strategies and managing team organization during competitions.
Collaboration and Program Alignment: Works closely with the Head Middle School Coach and high school coaching staff (varsity and junior varsity) to maintain consistency in coaching philosophy, terminology, and player progression throughout the program.
Supervision and Safety: Ensures proper supervision of athletes during all practices, games, travel, and team activities. Follows district and VHSL procedures for reporting and responding to injuries or incidents.
Equipment and Logistics: Assists in organizing, maintaining, and inventorying team uniforms, equipment, and field setup. Ensures all materials are used safely and responsibly.
Student Mentorship: Encourages academic responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive behavior among student-athletes. Serves as a role model who promotes respect, effort, and discipline.
Professional Conduct: Demonstrates professionalism in interactions with players, officials, parents, and the community. Upholds all school, district, and state athletic policies and models non-discriminatory practices.
Administrative Support: Attends all required coaches' meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions as set forth by school administration or the athletic department.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of soccer rules, techniques, and game strategies.
Effective communication, organizational, and motivational skills.
Ability to work cooperatively with the Head Coach, athletic staff, and student-athletes.
Commitment to supporting the overall growth and well-being of students.
Must meet district and Virginia coaching certification requirements.
