2025-2026 School Year . Location: Hawthorne High School. Compensation: coaching stipends per Collective Bargaining Agreement for current employees; coaching stipend of $4,476 per season for walk-on coaches. Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Principal or their designee, coach and assist a Varsity team, support development of lower level teams, and perform related duties as required. Support Head Coach in development of multiple levels and supervise players. Supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote growth, teamwork, discipline, respect, and sportsmanship. Prepare field/courts on game day and support logistics as directed by the Head Coach. Use instructional techniques to improve student-athletes, assess players’ skills, and support game strategy as determined by the Head Coach. Enforce student discipline during contests, practices, and trips off school property; promote nondiscriminatory practices. Ensure the protection of student-athletes, equipment, and facilities and oversee equipment cleaning, repair, and storage. Represent the District and program professionally and attend required staff development meetings and clinics. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or appropriate administrator. Minimum Qualification(s)
Experience playing or coaching the sport for which applying. Ability to explain, demonstrate, and analyze fundamental skills and strategies. Ability to meet all CIF Coaching requirements and certifications. Ability to communicate with and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders. Knowledge of CIF Rules and Regulations pertaining to the sport applying. Desirable Qualification(s)
At least two years of experience as a varsity coach at the high school, college, or professional level in the sport applying. Experience as a college or professional athlete. Demonstrated success with the development of a team with high academic achievement. Application Procedure
