The Department of Communication Studies calls students to engage communication meaningfully, creatively, ethically, and with intellectual curiosity, in order to enhance their personal and public lives, as well as contribute to a sustainable common good. The department offers a BA and a minor in communication studies, and we are seeking adjunct instructors to expand our capacity to serve our programs.

Classes run in 10-week sessions. Though the University’s administrative offices are open Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas. Position Summary

Adjunct instructors are needed to teach a variety of communication studies courses across the academic year. Instructors may be hired to teach one course or multiple courses.

Essential Functions

Teaching classes, primarily in a fully in-person modality Grading student work Meeting with students during office hours and corresponding with students via e-mail

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Excellent teaching ability

Required Qualifications

M.A. in communication studies or related field Experience teaching communication studies courses at the university level

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in communication studies

Work Schedule

Course Rate

The course rate for this position is $5,160 for a 4-credit course.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
