Primary School French Assistant Teacher
for the
2025-2026 academic year

Primary School French Assistant Teacher Responsibilities: Assist in French instruction under the direction of the lead teacher for students in Preschool-Grade 1. Work with students to hone French oral, written, and listening skills. Developing lesson plans and curricula based on the needs of individual students. Recognize students who are in need of additional support based on teacher recommendations, classroom observation, and assessment results. Instruct students individually and in small groups to further modify curriculum to match individual learning needs of students. Collaborate with other foreign language educators to develop and coordinate curriculum. Conducting research on teaching methods, materials, and language games that can be used in class. Organizing feedback sessions with students and their parents if applicable. Providing suggestions for further learning and scheduling intervention sessions with struggling students. Teaching students about French culture, which may include festivals, traditional food, and dress, and social conventions. Primary School French Assistant Teacher Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in French language, Education, or an equivalent required. Master’s degree preferred. Fluency in both written and spoken French. 2+ years of previous experience working with lower school students. No teaching license or credential is required. Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills. Well-organized and able to handle multiple responsibilities. Committed to fostering diversity and inclusion. Additional Desired Qualities: Experience with Primary Years Programme (PYP) preferred. A desire to be involved in extracurricular activities as well as the broader school community.
