Project Geologist

in

Tampa, FL

to support our work under the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Petroleum Restoration Program (PRP). This role involves managing petroleum-impacted site investigations, designing remediation systems, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

Conduct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) for petroleum-impacted sites. Perform soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling; interpret geologic and hydrogeologic data. Prepare technical reports including Site Assessment Reports (SARs), Remedial Action Plans (RAPs), and Corrective Action Plans (CAPs). Design and oversee remediation systems such as soil vapor extraction (SVE), multi-phase extraction (MPE), and groundwater pump-and-treat. Ensure compliance with FDEP regulations and OCCS documentation standards. Monitor groundwater for natural attenuation and post-remediation verification. Collaborate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project success. Participate in stakeholder meetings and public outreach as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology or Hydrogeology. Professional Geologist (PG) license in Florida or ability to attain licensure within one year Minimum 3–5 years of experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on petroleum site remediation. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (required). Strong technical writing and communication skills. Familiarity with groundwater modeling, contaminant fate and transport, and GIS tools.

Preferred:

Experience with subsurface chemical injections and dual-phase extraction systems. Knowledge of FDEP PRP procedures and OCCS documentation. Mechanical aptitude for field equipment and remediation systems.
